Xiannong Temple film,  Beijing Traditional Architecture Museum , 2011

The Xiannong Temple was a place where emperors would come to perform polytheist sacrificial rituals. When it was built, at the beginning of the Ming era, it was called “Shanchuan Altar.” Emperors would come here to make sacrificial rituals to the agricultural deities. Qing dynasty’s changed the name into "Temple of Agriculture" (Xiannongtan). Beside agricultural deities, sacrifices were made here to the Tai Sui god, the 12th Month god, the god of Wind, Clouds, Thunder and Rain as well as some other deities related to natural elements. This film was shot inside and outside the physical site with professional HD gear and gives a comprehensive vision of the Xuannong Temple, under multiples angles and with various levels of understanding.
